We don't talk enough about how exhausting moving is.
I don’t think people talk enough about how hard moving really is. We all know the feeling of opening our eyes on moving day and running around like a chicken with its head cut off, sprinting from room to room, checking things off our list. This was me in August, waiting for the sound of the moving truck to arrive, wondering how this was going to work with all our various items needing to get moved.
I’ve been so wiped out since that day. And while my POTS definitely makes it take me longer to unpack and get things set up, I honestly think moving is exhausting for anyone. Society kind of expects us to just bounce right back. You’ve moved, now get back to work, cook your meals, keep your house clean, live your life like nothing happened. But how??
Moving takes so much out of you. It’s not just physical either. Your routines are all thrown off, you can’t find things, and you don’t know where anything goes yet. Even if you’re excited about your new home, it’s still exhausting.
So if you’ve ever moved and thought, “Why am I still so tired?”, you’re not alone. It’s not just you. Moving is hard, period. And it’s okay if life doesn’t snap right back to normal the second the boxes are through the door.
