Sustainability

Growing up summering on the Chesapeake Bay and steaming blue crabs with my family made me appreciate the natural wonders of the Bay and wanting to preserve it. This would lead me to take courses in college about sustainability while incorporating those ideas as I moved through life.

During the pandemic I learned about regenerative agriculture and how with proper farming methods, cattle farming can actually be carbon neutral or carbon negative. Naturally, when I started rendering tallow for skincare and started Chesapeake Goods & Co.

As a local Maryland business, we place sustainability at the forefront. By using beef suet (tallow) in our products we are participating in a sustainable closed production loop by taking what would be a "waste product" and turning it into a premium skincare product. We intentionally choose other sustainable ingredients including organic flowers & jojoba oil which require little water to grow and is sourced from the US. We also minimize use of single use plastics in our business by prioritizing glass and use recycled packing materials when available.
